“My name is Maxime Vindrier, I’m 26, and I’m autistic. I have tons of passions I could talk about endlessly—but we’ll get to that later. What really gets to me are all the clichés and false ideas about autism. Honestly, sometimes I just want to shout: ‘No, it’s not a disease, and no, it can’t be cured!’ So let’s sit down and talk about how someone gets labeled as autistic, and clear things up once and for all.”

“Je suis Autiste…et alors?” by Maxime Vindrier is a powerful and thought-provoking book that challenges harmfulstereotypes and offers a deeper understanding of autism. Released on World Autism Awareness Day, this illustrated memoir blends humor, personal stories, and insightful commentary to break down misconceptions and highlight the richness of neurodiversity.

Through heartfelt honesty, clever humor, and his own hand-drawn illustrations, the author-illustrator shares his daily life and invites readers to see autism differently, beyond the clichés.

“Many people, whether autistic or not, do not fully understand autism or know how to talk about it. I hope this book, which reflects my thoughts and my journey, helps offer clarity and fosters greater understanding.”

Autism Awareness Day in Nice

We had the honor of participating in the Autism Awareness Days organized by the city of Nice, an event filled with testimonies from autistic individuals who shared their experiences and provided an honest look into their daily lives. Maxime Vindrier presented his book I Am Autistic… So What?, including a book signing session in the heart of the city.

Distributed for free, this book goes far beyond a simple testimony: it’s a true awareness tool, accessible to all. An important step toward a more inclusive society that learns to see and understand autism in a new way.
